Technology Outlook: The NMC Horizon Project Series of Regional and Sector Analyses

The NMC began conducting country-specific research in 2008, with the publication of the first NMC Horizon Report: Australia-New Zealand Edition, with subsequent annual editions in 2009 and 2010. A Spanish language edition targeting Iberoamerica was first published in 2010.

In 2011, the NMC expanded its research to specifically target regions around the world with a new series of analyses called the Technology Outlook. The series is the newest member of the NMC Horizon Project family of publications, and is aimed specifically at understanding both local and global differences in technology uptake as well as the current and future state of education in different parts of the world. To date, the NMC has produced regional Technology Outlook reports for the UK, New Zealand, Australia, Iberoamerica, Singapore, and Brazil, with plans for South Africa, Europe, and India.

In 2012, the NMC expanded the Technology Outlook series to include sector analyses, including specialized reports for STEM+ education (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, plus other key 21st century disciplines) as well as two-year institutions (community, technical, and junior colleges) in 2013.
